CEBUANO behemoth June Mar Fajardo nabbed his second Player of the Week award in the conference after helping steer the San Miguel Beermen to within a win away from the PBA Commissioner’s Cup finals.

Fajardo, the pride of Pinamungajan, Cebu, and the University of Cebu, normed 21.0 points, 11.3 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 2.0 assists for the period of July 9-15 to win the weekly award, beating fellow Cebuano big man, Greg Slaughter of Barangay Ginebra.

Fajardo started the playoffs in rousing fashion, putting up 27 points to go with 13 boards in the Beermen’s 121-110 win over TNT in Game 1 of the quarterfinals.

He soon followed that up with a 19-point, 12-rebound, four-steal gem in San Miguel’s 106-102 win over the KaTropa that completed the 2-0 sweep.

The 6-foot-10 giant continued his stellar form in Game 1 of the semis against the Alaska Aces, where he tallied 17 points, nine rebounds and two steals to take Game 1, 92-79.

The Beermen are currently ahead, 2-0, against the Aces with their 105-94 win in Game 2 on Monday night.
