Mandaue Business Month 2018 to highlight baking industry
CEBU’S local baking industry will take center stage in one of the major events for the coming Mandaue Business Month (MBM) 2018.
With more and more people consuming bread and not just rice, especially for breakfast, Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) President Stanley Go said they would want to help players in the industry to be able to scale up their businesses.
“The thrust of the chamber is to be able to help the industry to improve their bottom-line by giving them access to quality, good-value raw materials and equipment. We also want to help them through innovation,” Go said .
Dubbed as Bakery World, the exhibition will be the first of its kind to be done in the Visayas and Mindanao. The MCCI hopes to mount the event every other year starting this year.
The exhibition will feature seminars as well as booths by different big local and national players in the baking industry as well as bakers from Korea who are expected to share about new technologies in the industry.
It will be held at J Centre Mall’s exhibition hall on October 5 to 7.
While the MBM 2018 is celebrated every August, this year’s edition extends to September and October due to the number of holidays in June as well as concerns on availability of venues.
The MBM 2018, the annual flagship event of the MCCI was formally launched to the public last Friday at the Maayo Hotel.
It is part of the 49th Charter Day celebration of Mandaue City on August.
The series of events in the MBM 2018 revolves around the theme “Breaking Boundaries, Defying Limits.”
The events are designed to promote sustainable and socially-responsible entrepreneurship and to strategically position Mandaue City as an attractive destination for business and investment.
“In a period when industries are confronted by global challenges, the MCCI, as a ground for economic growth, pushes its members to defy and transcend their own limits, to strengthen their capabilities, to integrate innovations into their business, and to pursue their goals that are grounded on sustainable and socially-responsible entrepreneurship,” Go said.
Among the events lined up are the Trees Brew for Life on August 4, an annual tree planting initiative organized by MCCI and San Miguel Brewery Inc. (SMB); and the Disaster Preparedness Seminar: Basic Life Support Course on August 15.
An investment forum to showcase Mandaue City will also be held on a yet to be announced date and venue.
On August 23, the MCCI will hold a business summit at the Oakridge Pavilion.
The MBM 2018 will culminate with the MCCI Chamber Night Awards at the Oakridge Pavilion on September 13.
