THE Department of Transportation (DOTr) recently rolled out the first “modern” public utility vehicles (PUVs) in Western Visayas as part of the government’s PUV modernization program.
According to the DOTr, 45 brand new PUVs were launched on Tuesday and will ply routes in Iloilo particularly in Iloilo City, Oton, and Pavia.
The new PUVs that were rolled out in Iloilo were equipped with CCTV cameras, WiFi, GPS, an automatic fare collection system (AFCS and television monitors.
The vehicles are also friendly to persons with disabilities (PWDs) and are fully air-conditioned.
The DOTr added that a meeting between its officials and PUV operators and drivers was also held as part of the roll out.
