THE 13TH edition of the University Run (UR) of the Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU) capped off with flying colors yesterday.

For Run For Sight Foundation Chairman and accomplished international marathoner, Dr. Potenciano “Yong” Larrazabal III, the race was by far the best edition of the UR in terms of organization and number of participants.

“Everything was smooth, I think this is the best University Run in years in terms of success in both organizing and the number of participants, ” said Larrazabal. “Also, the weather was very cooperative.”

This year’s race surpassed the 2017 edition by drawing in more than 3,000 runners, according to Larrazabal. Last year’s number was 2,500.

The seven college departments of CDU also proved their worth as each of them provided ample hydration and refreshments for the 3,000 plus participants.

They also entertained the runners.

The College of Medicine went on to win the best water station award for the third straight year.

The running event is part of CDU’s annual intramurals, which officially kicks off on Tuesday.

Winners were: Jezerel Baguio (40:32) and Anita Balaga (57:38) for the 10-kilometer open, Christopher Napalla (21:53) and Janice Wagar (32:45) in the 5k, Neil and Kali Carcel in the 10k alumni, Dr. Nilo Vergara and Fe Mojado in the 10k employee. Andrei and Roselyn Yu in the 5k alumni, and Dr. Reynaldo Ramero and Elmira Tantiado in the 5k employee category.
