A short commotion transpired after non-striking workers of Liwayway Marketing Corp. tried to break the picket line to enter the company premises after they have been barred by fellow workers on strike since Friday (August 24) at Barangay Maguikay, Mandaue City on Tuesday morning (August 28).

Around 200 non-striking workers, who wanted to resume work, were prevented by workers on strike and members of cause-oriented groups.

No person was hurt during the commotion.

Jonathan Edig, a packing supervisor, shared the same sentiment with the strikers to become a regular employee.

Edig explained that the findings of the Department of Labor and Employment showed there is labor only contracting in their company, which is prohibited by law.

He, however, would like to wait for the company to decide on the regularization issue.

The strikers decided to continue their activity until the scheduled negotiation this afternoon at the National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB).
