IT’S been two years since Steffi Aberasturi joined a beauty pageant. So when she heard about Binibining Cebu 2018, she decided to take part in order to inspire and empower women.
“I think this can be a great platform to express my advocacy. I am pleased and humbled to be part of this prestigious pageant,” she said.
Aberasturi is representing Mandaue City, known for its delicacies such as “bibingka” (rice cake) and masareal.
An urbanized and progressive city, it celebrates the Mantawi Festival in the month of May and showcases the city’s culture and heritage.

“THIS pageant is very important for me because as a Cebuana born and raised in the city, I am proud to represent one of the municipalities. It is my pride to be part of something this prestigious,” said Trixie Ong.
Ong wears the sash of Tuburan, the largest provider of coffee in Cebu province.
“There are huge coffee farms which also generates work for the local people. Tuburan coffee is handpicked and roasted with love,” she added.
She also describes her hometown as “Cebu’s Spring of Hope.”
“I would like to promote the wonderful springs and unspoiled sceneries in my town Tuburan not just through social media but also through conducting tour guiding activities and teaching the local people how to do it. It would also be a great opportunity for them to learn and to make it as a living,” she said.
