5 teams post victories in 5th Duterte hoopfest

THE KNIGHTS, Lycans, Compman, Tito’s Kitchen and Paragsa all grabbed their second wins to gain the early lead in the standings of the 5th season of the Duterte Basketball League Cebu last Sunday at the Capitol Parish Gym.

The Knights won over Ikustomz, 61-51, while Paragsa beat Sherilin Plastics, 64-55, behind the combined 25 points of the backcourt of Franz Dysam and Nino Batiquin. The defending champions Lycans, on the other hand, routed the Rasenta Builders, 82-45, as King Osabel and Nogie Saga had 15 markers each.

Tito’s Kitchen meanwhile, beat SAGBAF, 67-64, as former University of Cebu (UC) big man Ruben Ludovice exploded for 24 points. Ryan Noval scored 20 while Felix Manlisik added 14 to lead Compman past BJMP, 56-50.

In other matches, JTR edged the Elwin Lions, 68-66; Penthel likewise squeaked past Neilrosemark Travel, 65-62, as former University of San Jose-Recoletos big man Randy Pogoy tallied 21 markers. The Gifters also beat CPPO, 72-68, as another UC product, Allain Abellanosa, fired in 19 points.
