THREE weeks prior to its scheduled soft opening, roads in the world-famous tourist destination, Boracay, are still unfinished.

Photos sent to Inquirer.net suggest that road works in the resort island are far from being completed, 22 days before government opens the top travel spot to tourists again. These photos from Boracay were taken on October 3 and 4.

Some pictures show exposed pipes and open excavation on the roadside while some pictures show dirt roads and half-paved roads.

Other pictures indicate ongoing constructions or renovations of some establishments.

The government is gearing for Boracay’s soft opening to tourists on October 26 after it decided to close down the island in April for rehabilitation, as President Rodrigo Duterte likened the famous tourist destination to a “cesspool” amid various environmental problems hounding the island.
