A young man was killed after the gun he was allegedly playing with went off inside his boarding house in barangay Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City.
The victim was identified only as Marlon, a native of Ubay, Bohol.
According to the victim’s two boardmates, Gerrymel Sumabang, 22, and Loui Ingking, 20, Marlon was playing “Russian Roulette.”
The three men had a drinking session before the incident happened, said SPO1 Manolito Abellanisa of the homicide section of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office.
Sumabang and Ingking, natives of Pilar, Bohol, said they decided to watch TV after they arrived in the boardinghouse owned by Joseph Cortez.
Sumabang and Inking said that while they were watching TV, Marlon, who was believed to be in his 20s, pulled out a .22 revolver from his waistband.
Marlon allegedly rolled the gun’s cylinder, pointed it at his chest and pulled the trigger.
Marlon allegedly continued toying with the gun until it went off. He was rushed to the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital where the attending doctor declared him dead.
Police recovered a .22 revolver with five ammunition and one empty shell in its cylinder.
Police said the incident will be investigated further.
