Makati bettor wins Lotto jackpot

MANILA, Philippines—A  lone bettor from Makati City became an instant multi-millionaire after winning the much coveted P249.8-million jackpot in Monday night’s 6/55 Grand Lotto draw, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office said.

The winner placed a bet at a lotto outlet in Barangay Pio del Pilar in Makati City and  picked the winning combination—39-21-42-28-05-27, PCSO General Manager Jose Ferdinand Rojas II said in an email.

The jackpot prize grew to P249,841,572.00 by Monday, the richest pot this year, since nobody hit the winning number combinations for over three months.

The Grand Lotto was last won in January this by a sari-sari owner who bagged the P155-million jackpot prize.

Before the Monday night’s draw, the lotto sales all over the country reached P84,707,580 as more people continued to line up in the hopes of hitting the jackpot.

The PCSO said the jackpot prize will be back to P30 million, the minimum amount, in its next draw on Wednesday.

Last Friday, a businessman who hit the jackpot in the 6/49 Super Lotto draw on April Fools’ Day claimed his prize at the PCSO headquarters in Pasay City.
