AT LEAST 50 members of different caused-oriented groups in Central Visayas staged protest rally in front of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) in celebration of the International Human Rights Day on Monday.

Human Rights Day is celebrated every December 10 around the world.

John Ruiz, Bayan Visayas coordinator, said that they chose to stage their rally in front of the camp of the police because they believed that the organization had been violating human rights since they launched their war on drugs.

“We are saddened and worried about the human rights situation in our country,” said Ruiz in Cebuano.

He said it seemed that human rights were disregarded when President Rodrigo Duterte assumed office in 2016, and waged war on illegal drugs.
