It’s another Mexican for Villanueva

Cebu Daily News February 25,2014 - 09:56 PM

ALA Promotions has found the last minute replacement to fight ALA Boxing Gym’s WBO International superflyweight champion “King” Arthur Villanueva (24-0,14 KOs) in the co-main event of this Saturday’s “Pinoy Pride 24: The Future Is Now” at the Solaire Resort and Casino in Parañaque City, Manila.
According to ALA Promotions Vice President Dennis Cañete, they have acquired the services of Mexican Fernando Aguilar (9-6, 1KO) to replace former WBC world minimumweight champion Juan “Churritos” Hernandez (23-3,16 KOs) who was reportedly injured after figuring in a vehicular accident in Mexico.
Cañete said that the initial replacement, Danny “Venado” Flores also backed out to fight Villanueva because he was not able to catch the required weight for the upcoming bout where the latter’s title is at stake.
Cañete also bared that they are hoping Aguilar and his team will arrive on Thursday for the event’s final press conference.
Villanueva and Aguilar will fight as co-main eventers along with WBO Intercontinental super bantamweight champion Genesis “Azukal” Servania (23-0, 9KOs) and WBA World Superflyweight champion Alexander Muñoz (36-5,28KOs) of Venezuela in the explosive fight card. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
