Man with fake P200 bills nabbed in Colon Street
CEBU CITY, Philippines — An 18-year-old man from Barangay Labangon was arrested in Colon Street after he used a fake P200 bill to pay a habal-habal (motorcycle-for-hire) driver for his fare on Sunday, April 7.
Christian Misa of Salvador Street was also caught with two other fake P200 bills aside from the fake bill that he paid the habal-habal driver, said Police Corporal Humprey Dablo, who was assigned to patrol the downtown Cebu City area.
Dablo said the habal-habal driver, who noticed the bill that Misa paid was fake, decided to stop his motorcycle near Dablo in Colon Street and told him about what Misa did.
When Dablo apprehended Misa, he also found out that Misa had two other P200 fake bills in his wallet with the three fake bills having the same serial numbers.
Misa later told Dablo that he knew that the money was fake and it was given to him by a friend that he did not name.
He said since he did not have money, he wanted to dupe the habal-habal driver into giving him the P130 change for fake P200 bill — P70 was the fare from Barangay Labangon to Colon Street.
Misa was detained at the Parian Police Precinct detention cell pending the filing of charges.
Dablo said that Misa would be charged with illegal possession and use of false bank notes of the Revised Penal Code or for using fake or counterfeit bills./dbs
