Cebu City, Philippines —A motorcycle-for-hire driver was shot dead by still unidentified assailants on Friday early morning, April 12, 2019, in Sabellano Street, Sitio Mayuay in Barangay Quiot here.

The shooting incident happened at past 1 a.m. on Friday, according to Police Major Keith Allen Andaya, precinct commander of the Labangon Police Station.

Andaya indentified the victim as Rolan Egdamin, 42, a resident of Sitio Ubca, Barangay Quiot.

According to Andaya, a witness to the shooting was a passenger of Egdamin, who just got off before the shooting.

The witness, whose identity is withheld for security reasons,  told Andaya that after disembarking from the motorcycle, a gunman immediately approached the driver and shot him in the head and neck.

Recovered from the crime scene were three empty shells of .45 calibre bullets and cash from the motorcycle believed to be the driver’s earnings.

Based on their initial investigation, Andaya believes personal grudge is the motive behind the killing. /bmjo
