Otso Diretso senatorial candidates woo 3M Cebu voters

 CEBU CITY, Philippines — Otso Diretso senatorial candidates are counting on Cebuanos’ votes to gain seats in the Senate this coming May 2019 midterm elections.

Magdalo Representative Gary Alejano, one of the Otso Diretso candidates, in his speech during the Ahon Laylayan event  in Cebu City said they believed that their slate would be the true choice of the Cebuano masses.

“Two weeks pa [before May 13], naa pay daghan mahitabo. Sa among pag-ikot-ikot, bulong-bulong lang ang mga tawo nga Otso Diretso sila kay hadlok sila,” said Alejano.

The opposition senatorial slate are in Cebu on Sunday, April 28, exactly 15 days before the May 13 polls, for the Ahon Laylayan Coalition event at the Plaza Independencia in downtown Cebu City.

They are here to woo the 3 million voters of Cebu, which is considered one of the vote rich provinces of the country.

Among the Otso Diretso candidates are Reelectionist Senator Bam Aquino, former senator Mar Roxas, lawyers Romy Macalintal, Florin Hilbay, Erin Tañada, Chel Diokno, Gary Alejano and Samira Gutoc.

Vice President Leni Robredo, the figurehead of the opposition, is also present in the event to support the eight-man slate.

Ahon Laylayan in Cebu is headed by former Interior and Local Government undersecretary Bimbo Fernandez.| dbs
