CEBU CITY, Philippines — Be strong.
This is the piece of advice from Kapuso actress Jennyln Mercado to single mothers on Mother’s Day.
The award-winning actress faced the Cebu Entertainment Group during their recent Kapuso Mall Show to promote the series, “Love You Two” which is headlined by Mercado, Gabby Concepcion, Shaira Diaz, and Clint Bondad.

“Maging matatag sila. Walang problemang hindi na so-solusyanan. Lahat naman ng mga problema na ibinibigay sa iyo, para sa iyo yan. Alam ni God na kaya mo,” she said.
(Be firm. Every problem has a solution. God will never give you a problem that you cannot solve. You can surpass everything.)
For her, single mothers are not alone.
“Maraming mga tao na sumusuporta sa kanila. Hindi sila (single mothers) nag i-isa. Porke’t wala silang mga partner, andiyan ang mga magulang nila at mga kaibigan nila,” she added.
(Many people are there for you. They (single mothers) are not alone. It does not mean that they do not have partners, they are alone. They have their parents and even their friends.)
She also encouraged the single mothers not to lose hope and not to lose themselves.
“Yun importante. Pag pinabayaan mo sarili mo, hindi mo na maalagaan anak mo. Importante na mahalin mo sarili mo,” she said.
(That is important. If you have taken yourself for granted, you cannot take care of your child. Love yourself.)
Currently, Mercado is a single mother. In 2008, she gave birth to her firstborn Jazz from her ex-boyfriend Patrick Garcia.
Mercado and Garcia eventually broke up in 2008. At present, Mercado is in a relationship with Kapuso star Denis Trillo while Garcia married non-showbiz partner Nikka Martinez./dbs
