Robredo hits fake news on her resignation amid Otso bets’ defeat
MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Leni Robredo on Wednesday flatly denied that she will step down from her post if none of the Otso Diretso senatorial candidates makes it to the so-called Magic 12.
Robredo belied a Facebook post supposedly quoting her as saying that she would quit her post if no opposition senatorial candidate gets elected.
“Not true,” Robredo said in a Twitter post, attaching a photo of the Facebook post.

She urged the public to not allow themselves to be hoodwinked by “peddlers of fake news.”
“Let’s continue fighting disinformation. Report peddlers of fake news,” the Vice President wrote.
In the latest update of the partial and unofficial tally of votes of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV), not a single opposition senatorial candidate broke into the winning circle.
Reelectionist Senator Bam Aquino ranked 14th with 13,882,776 votes, while former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas was in 16th place with 9,659,085 votes.
Meanwhile, human rights lawyer Chel Diokno only ranked 21st; Magdalo party-list Rep. Gary Alejano, 23rd; Marawi City civic leader Samira Gutoc, 25th; election lawyer Romy Macalintal, 26th; former Quezon Rep. Erin Tañada, 27th and former Solicitor General Florin Hilbay, 29th.
