Julie’s holds Chief Baker Student Edition Reality Baking Show

Guest Judge Mike Lopez with student bakers from CTU San Francisco Camotes

THE Philippines’ largest neighborhood bakeshop, Julie’s Bakeshop brings you the Julie’s Chief Baker Student Edition, a reality TV show featuring student bakers 13 culinary schools in Cebu offering baking classes. The premier season is now airing in Cebu, Davao and General Santos on Sky Cable.

The show aims to generate awareness for the brand among a younger and more dynamic market. The competing schools vying for the first Julie’s Chief Baker title are: Asian College of Technology, Benedicto College, Cebu Eastern College, Cebu Institute of Technology University, Cebu Mary Immaculate College Inc., Cebu Technological University Danao and San Francisco Camotes, International School of Hotel and Restaurant Management, Mandaue City College, St. Cecilia’s College, University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu Mandaue, University of Cebu METC SEACAST, and University of Southern Philippines Foundation.

Week 3 of the Julie’s Chief Baker Student’s Edition got the teams all fired up for the challenge of creating a unique fried bread recipe to get the judges’ nod. The student bakers combined fruits, coffee, peanut butter and nuts to their dough.
It was Cebu Technological University (CTU) San Francisco Camotes’s Mango Knot that stood out from the other recipes and wowed the judges. Unfortunately, Cebu Eastern College (CEC) was sent home after their Cinnamon Raisin Peanut Butter bread was found dry and came short of exciting the judges’ palates.

For the next challenge, the student bakers will need to whip up interesting meat-filled breads that will bring them one step closer to the title of being the first Julie’s Chief Baker Student Edition champion.

Catch the student teams on Sky Cable Cebu Living Channel 35 and Community Channel 61 from Mondays through Sundays. Log on to Youtube.com/iwantJulies to view the previous episodes.
