Mactan airport audit out soon

By: Norman V. Mendoza March 21,2014 - 09:33 AM

The secretariat of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Summit through its technical working group on transportation are finalizing the aviation safety evaluation for the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA).

The evaluation was requested by the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) since Cebu is among the areas being considered as  a venue for the Apec activities.

MCIA General Manager Nigel Paul Villarete said the Apec secretariat contacted the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and asked them to send aerodrome safety experts to inspect the MCIA.

He said the evaluation  will also help the MCIAA  find  cost-effective solutions to the airport’s operational concerns.
