Janson’s supporters weigh in on Bb. Pilipinas results

Kris Tiffany Janson

Supporters of Kris Tiffany Janson, those who came in droves wearing pink at the big dome, and  even those cheering either at the viewing party in the Cebu City Marriott Hotel or in their  respective homes, were glad that she was one of the lucky five candidates who were crowned the new queens and earned the right to represent the Philippines in the international competitions.

But after all the yells and cheers have subsided, there is that feeling of not totally agreeing with her placement; many clamor that she should have taken home the “Miss Universe-Philippines” title.

Considered an early favorite to win, Janson proved the predictions right by not buckling down at the make-or-break Question and Answer portion.

Asked by   US-based  fashion designer Michael Cinco on a recorded video (candidates who made to the semi-finals were to press a button that randomly selects from among the 11 judges, or from the international three beauty queens from the Philippines in attendance, or from one video clip) what would she change if she can go back in time, Janson replied with restraint,

“I would go to my father and tell him how much I love him because I know that it was something I took for granted. But tonight, I do not worry because I know he has the best seat, and he is watching from above. And tonight, I am a step closer from achieving his dream.”

Like a lingering hangover, a lot of pageant enthusiasts are a bit disappointed with the results. But what can we do? The cliché that the decision of the board of judges is final holds true. But then again, we are always entitled to our own opinion.

“I was very happy with her placement. It’s a good thing she was crowned Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental because we don’t have that title yet; Kris Janson has a really big chance in being the first Filipina (and Cebuana) to be crowned Miss Intercontinental.”
– Bee Urgello, Queen of Cebu-Universe

“If Bianca Guidotti—a first-timer–made it and Pia Wurtzbach—a pro—did not, it only means that we differ in our perception of beauty. It’s true that beauty (or winning) is in the eye (or hands) of the beholder (judges). It’s simple and it’s plain.
    – Johnie Lim, businessman

“I’m satisfied with the results, and I’m thankful that our very own Kris Tiffany Janson won the Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2014 crown. It was evident that her natural beauty shone and her  intelligence spoke volumes. In the face of her semi-nice makeup and semi-great hairstyle, she emerged as one of the most beautiful Filipinas at the end of the night. I’m very happy for Mary Jean Lastimosa, because at her third attempt last night, she finally won—and it’s the highest of the five titles, the Miss Universe Philippines 2014 crown. She deserved it, hands down.”
    – Ariel Allera, pageant blogger and make-up artist

“I’m so proud of Kris! I’ve seen her bloom from Ms. Cebu all the way to Bb. Pilipinas. Her beauty, effortless class and charm and natural demeanor were undeniably exceptional that helped her win one of the crowns. She placed Cebu back on the pageant map once again and which I hope will inspire more Cebuanas to join in the future. Congratulations to her, her handler Jonas Borces, Kagandahang Flores headed by Tito Rodgil Flores and to the rest of the team and her supporters.”
– Anna Maris Igpit,  Binibining Pilipinas-World 2006

“Kris Janson could have afforded to give more energy, waved more, engaged the audience and judges more. she was miyat from where i was seated, orchestra center just a few rows ahead of the photographers area (yes i was the crazy person in the red polo screaming and jumping up and down for kris) but wow her answer was personal, heartfelt and touching. you have to work on the energy for the international pageant, ‘day!
    – Hendri Go, stageplay producer

“Kris was a crowd favorite during the pageant judging. Many thought she would end up being sent to Miss Universe but the judges decided to send her to Miss Intercontinental. This is the first time BBP is sending a delegate to that contest and choosing Kris as representative, BBP wants to make sure we send a very strong one in terms of beauty, aura and intellect who can snatch the title this year.”
    – Gem Cabreros, pageant enthusiast.

“This year’s batch are our tomorrow’s hopefuls. So no need to watch next year’s pageant. You already saw them this year!”
    – Jesslee Sarthou, former fashion designer

“The third-time joiner had to wait three long years before nailing the most coveted crown. On the other hand, last year’s sole lady-in-waiting patiently trained with the other Gold winners and sacrificed the offer to take part in a lesser-known pageant abroad to try her luck in this year’s beauty derby. In the end, the reward was given to the lady who took the longer road to victory. A most sweet win, I must add. It came at a time when MJ had the slimmest of age qualification to back up her bid. And the reaction upon hearing her name being called as the successor of Ara Arida made her cry so much that instead of reacting with calculated poise and confidence, she turned all humble and vindicated at the same time. Why, even anchorperson Shamcey Supsup was in tears when she saw her best friend finally harvesting the fruits of hard work and determination.
    – Norman Tinio, pageantologist

“Kris Janson’s victory is well-deserved. The Miss Intercontinental will be a blessing in disguise as she might be the first Filipina to win that title. Her charming personality and naturally beautiful aura speaks subtly of her beautiful heart and soul. I call her a model’s muse, one who’s proven to be more than just a pretty face but a woman of style, sense, and substance.”
– Dexter Alazas, discoverer and manager of Kris Janson

“I am truly proud of Kris! She showed everyone the true beauty of a Cebuana: somebody who does not rely on outer beauty but inner beauty as well. She deserves the crown! Her victory motivates me to join next year.”
– Namrata Neesha Murjani, Miss Cebu 2013
