Police Brigadier General Valeriano De Leon

CEBU CITY, Philippines —Petty issues like absences and tardiness should no longer have to wait for action from the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7).

Police Brigadier General Valeriano De Leon, regional director of PRO-7, said station commanders and city or provincial directors should be the ones to act on disciplinary measures and to instill discipline among their men.

“Ayokong simple absences aakyat pa sa amin (I don’t want simple absences to be sent to us for  action). You are trained to be chiefs of police,” Valeriano said in his speech during the Kumustahan at Paskuhan 2019 at the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) on Thursday, December 19.

De Leon is one of the guests of honor in the CPPO’s activity, which featured Cebuano festivals, products and sceneries through 51 murals inside the Camp Arcadio Maxilom in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City.

De Leon also commended Police Colonel Roderick Mariano, director of the CPPO, for his creativity in coming up with the activity.

“I am so happy that even if you have the biggest number of cities and municipalities under you, it seems that everybody is doing the right thing. I hope,  Colonel Mariano, you sustain until you retire,” De Leon said.

Cebu province has 44 component towns and seven cities.

But De Leon added although Mariano was “on top of the situation” in Cebu, he should also delegate some of his duties to his subordinates so he could focus on more pressing concerns./dbs
