CEBU City’s bet to the Miss Philippines Earth 2014 bagged the prestigious crown as the new ‘environmental queen’ at last night’s coronation held in the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Last year’s Sinulog Festival Queen, Jamie Herrell bested 48 candidates from all over the country. She is the second Cebuana to win the title in the pageant’s 14-year history, after Karla Paula Henry in 2008 who eventually became Miss Earth.

The new Miss Philippines Earth titlist is a 19-year-old film scholar at Bigfoot Entertainment.

Considered a front-runner in the pageant because she grabbed the most number of medals in the challenges score sheet (5 Golds for Best in Swimsuit, Best in Cultural Costume, Best in Resort Wear, Darling of the Press, and Fun for a Cause).

Last night, she was also awarded Miss Solaire. Prior to winning the crown, she won the “Reyna ng Aliwan Festival Queen” in 2013 as well as the Miss Mega Cebu 2013. She wore a Cary Santiago gown at last night’s coronation.

She dedicates her victory to her mom Snowie Herrel on the occasion of Mother’s Day, as well as to her late dad.

Her elemental court is composed of Dianne Carmela Querrer of Tanauan City as Miss Philippines Earth-Air; Kimberly Covert of Dumaguete City as Miss Philippines Earth-Water; Maria Paula Bianca Paz of Gapan City as Miss Philippines Earth-Fire; and Monique Teruelle Manuel of Dinalupihan, Bataan as Miss Philippines Earth-Eco Tourism.

The pageant was hosted by Karla Henry and Robi Dominggo.
