‘Make amends by helping uncover the truth’

CEBU Archbishop Jose Palma yesterday appealed to all those involved in the taping of a newborn’s mouth to make amends for their actions by cooperating in uncovering the truth.

“We know that all of us are our brother’s keepers. We have a responsibility to each one, labi na ang mga innocent, labi na for people who cannot care for themselves,” Palma told reporters after presiding over the ordination of seven priests and four deacons at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral.

Palma said that he was sad that the victim was a baby and even sadder that the one who committed the act was someone who should have cared for the infant.

He called on everyone to seize every opportunity to serve others.

“Unta atong tagsa ka mga buhat makadala ug kaayohan, kalipay,” he said. (Each of our actions should bring joy.)

On the pork barrel scam, Palma said the church is praying for the truth to be “truly be known”.

“Kung tinuod nga many are involved, then let it be seen, let it be judged and let people who are responsible accept the penalty or judgment for whatever faults they may have,” he said.
