DSWD to open crisis unit in Carcar, Danao

THE regional office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-7) will set up two satellite offices of its Crisis Intervention Unit (CIU) in Carcar City and Danao City.

“In Carcar City, we are still looking at where to set up office. (In Danao City) we are still finalizing the contract with the owner of the building that we’ll rent,” CIU chief Shallane Lucero said.

She said these two offices will spare their clients the inconvenience of having to go to the regional CIU office at M.J. Cuenco and Gen. Maxilom Ave. in Cebu City for assistance.

The CIU provides transportation, medical, burial, food and nonfood, educational, referral services, counseling and rescue operations.

It prioritizes indigent families identified under the government’s National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR). /with a report by UP-Cebu Intern Angeli Sarmiento
