THE POSTPONEMENT of the 2013 Batang Pinoy National Championships in Bacolod City from Nov. 19-23 to Jan. 28-Feb. 1, 2014 has given the powerhouse cast of Team Visayas’ dancesports more time to prepare for the competition.

Team Visayas dancesports, composed of members of Dancesports Team Cebu City (DTCC), hasn’t actually stopped practicing for the Batang Pinoy-Nationals since topping the Visayas leg in Maasin City recently.

Edward Hayco, the father of dancesports in the city, said DTCC members are ready for the national finals of the multi-sporting event for athletes 15 years old and below.

“They haven’t stopped practicing,” Hayco told Cebu Daily News when asked about the status of the team.

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), has earlier announced that the Cebu junior team is seeded in dancesports, meaning it is among the stronger contenders in the field.

DTCC helped Team Cebu City retained its overall crown in the Batang Pinoy-Visayas Qualifying Leg in Maasin City, Southern Leyte recently as its bets in the juvenile category won five of the six events in the sport to chip in five golds, five silvers and four bronze medals.

Leading the DTCC cast for Team Visayas in the National Finals of Batang Pinoy are Juvenile A Latin category gold medalists Carl Nathanyl Papellero and Jasmine Kate Labra and the silver medal-winning pair of Francis Isaia Diluvio and Anndreah Kiem Capangpangan.

Also joining DTCC in the national finals are Juvenile D Latin 2 silver medallists Jaydel Fresh Pat and Ouieselene Rendon, Juvinile C Latin (3) champions Ryan Joshua Romeo and Paige Ianah Silud, Jezekiah Sobrevega and Rydel Rowella Pat.
