CEBU CITY, Philippines — The first molecular laboratory outside Metro Manila for the police force, will soon be functional.

This was the announcement of Police Brigadier General Albert Ignatius Ferro, Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) director, this Monday, August 10, 2020.

Ferro said that the molecular laboratory construction, which is currently ongoing inside Camp Sotero Cabahug along Gorordo Avenue, was already 95 percent finished while the placement of the equipment was also continuing.

“We are now on the process of finishing our molecular laboratory… the facilities of the molecular are 95 percent finished,” said Ferro.

According to Ferro, they are hoping the construction and placement of equipment will be done this month together with the added facility for swab testing area and quarters areas for the doctors and medical technologists who will be supervising the laboratory.

Ferro said that he was also hoping that the reconstruction for the infirmary section of the building in the Regional Health Service hospital in Camp Sotero Cabahug would also be finished as the rooms would also be used as a COVID-19 ward.

Ferro said the infirmary section would be one of his projects which was timely with the needs of the PRO-7 when the pandemic hit.

He said he hoped that with the additional infirmary section, the RHS hospital would be upgraded into a level one hospital that would be able to treat less serious medical concerns in the future./dbs
