Teacher, nephew killed in accident caused by drunk driver

A 28-year old public school teacher and his nephew were killed when the motorcycle they rode on was hit by a truck along the national highway of Balisong, Argao at 8:20 p.m. last Wednesday.

Fermin Sardual, a teacher of Balisong Elementary School drove a motorcycle to school with his 11-year-old nephew, Andre and slowed down as they approached a store to buy snacks when they were hit from their rear by an Isuzu truck.

The truck dragged them at least 60 meters from the site of impact. Sardual and his nephew sustained fatal head injuries.

After the incident the driver, identified as 46-year-old Felixberto Ruba, didn’t stop driving until he hit a gate of a residence in barangay Banhigan, Dalaguete town  about 4 kilometers away from barangay Balisong.

P03 Benjamin Geyrosaga, investigator of the Argao police found Ruba to be drunk.

Ruba, a resident of Mandaue City was brought to the Argao police precinct on charges of reckless imprudence resulting to double homicide and damage to properties. Ruba came from Cebu City to deliver goods to Dalaguete town, which is next to Argao.
