Cebu City mall fire damages P400k worth of properties
CEBU CITY, Philippines — Some P400,000 worth of properties were razed by an early afternoon fire that hit a store on the 2nd level of a mall in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City past 1 p.m., today, February 27.
As per the fire incident report, there were no casualties nor injured individuals in the blaze.
Around 1:20 p.m. today, the Cebu City Fire Dept. responded to a fire alarm that reportedly started inside a 5-square-meter store. The fire was announced under control around 2:09 p.m. and was declared fire out at 2:15 p.m.
“A fire incident, in an isolated area of the mall, happened just after 1 p.m. today. The area was evacuated for the safety of the customers and tenant employees. Fire out has been declared and no one was hurt throughout the incident. A joint investigation, together with the Bureau of Fire Protection, is currently ongoing,” read part of the statement from the mall’s management.
As of this posting, fire investigators are still determining the possible causes of the hour-long fire. /rcg
