CEBU CITY, Philippines—A motorcycle rider died in a fatal road accident in Naga City, southern Cebu on Wednesday, March 3, 2021.

Reports from the Naga City Police Station showed that the victim, identified as Rockbon Padrogane, collided with a dump truck when he overtook two vehicles plying along the barangay road of Cantao-an, Naga City on Wednesday morning.

The truck, which was carrying diorite stones, was bound for Barangay Tungkop in the neighboring town of Minglanilla. It was driven by Alberto Garcia, 54.

Investigations showed that Padrogane, 45, who was headed for Guindarohan, overtook two vehicles on a blind curve. In doing so, he rammed into the 10-wheeler dump truck driven by Garcia that was heading towards him from the opposite lane. He tried to put on the brakes but it didn’t help.

The impact of the collision resulted to Padrogane sustaining severe injuries. Police said he was brought to a nearby public hospital but physicians declared him dead on arrival.

Garcia, in the meantime, was detained at the Naga City Police Station.
