Discipline zones set up in some Mandaue barangays

MANDAUE CITY, Philippines — Mandaue City policemen are establishing discipline in the different barangays in Mandaue City.
Some of the established discipline zones are the one under the flyover of barangay Maguikay, near Gaisano Capital in barangay Casuntingan, and the satellite market in barangay Canduman.
The discipline zone is the area where laws, executive orders, and ordinances in the city are being strictly implemented.
The signs have already been posted about what is expected to be implemented in the areas such as no illegal parking, no littering, no vendors allowed, and safety protocols, among others.

As it were already recognized as discipline zones the compliance of the people in the area will be strictly monitored by the authorities.
Police Major Zosimo Jabas, chief of the Operations and Management Unit of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO), said there would be police personnel and barangay tanods in those areas.
According to Jabas, each barangay is encouraged to pass a resolution where they would choose their own discipline zones and barangay personnel that would assist authorities in enforcing the laws and ordinances in the area.
These places are busy places that are usually crowded or places that there are a lot of violators.
“Diha (discipline zone) dapita naa dinha kadaghan mga violations. Diha magsugod ang disiplina, so dapat ang mga tawo diha dapita dili gyud sila kaviolate para mutatak sa ato’ng mga kaigsuunan nga example. Dinha sa sattelite area sa Canduman, dili ta kay discipline zone area na dinha. Ato’ng sugdan sa gamay hangtud sa dako,” Jabas said.

(There [at the discipline zone] at that area there are many violations. That is where we will start to discipline, so that it will stick to the minds of people and as an example that in that area our brothers could not violate any rules there. Like in the satellite market in Canduman, we will not violate any rules there because that is a discipline area. We will start small until it will grow larger.)
They also seek to further expand and designate more areas as discipline zones.
The station commanders were already instructed to coordinate with their respective barangay officials for the establishment of discipline zones.
