STUDYING in one of the world’s top universities is an opportunity every high school student dreams of.

Pursuing higher education under the tutelage of the best professors is a peak experience.

His dream to study abroad in a university with an excellent track record brought Herald Evan C. Ong to the University of Sydney.
Even at a young age, Ong had a passion for learning that was apparent in his desire to learn only from the best.

Right after high school, Ong applied with the University of Sydney with the help of IDP Education Philippines.

Ong was the first student whom IDP Cebu facilitated for a higher education program in Australia. Not worried about the prospect of living alone, away from home, parents and friends, Ong packed his life in a suitcase to fulfill his dream in Australia.

At the University of Sydney, Ong successfully completed his Bachelor of Arts in Government and International Relations and Sociology.

“Studying in Australia exposed me to different types of people,” Ong said.

It was both a fun and humbling experience, he said.

“Being independent, learning to do things myself, finding solutions to problems instead of depending on others,” said Ong were some of the priceless benefits of an education abroad.

When his bachelor’s degree was completed Ong worked for the Trade Attache in Singapore.

He later decided to come home to Cebu and help grow the family business. Ong today works alongside his father and uncle in running KeyWest Shipping, a cargo shipping company.

IDP Philippines helps students who have the intention of studying in Australia. They help link the students to the university of their choice in Australia. IDP has helped more than 2000 students from the Philippines.
