Bigby’s resto chain eyes two more Cebu outlets

By: Aileen Garcia-Yap September 02,2014 - 09:52 AM

CAGAYAN de Oro-based food chain Bigby’s plans to open two more outlets in Cebu.
The expansion will have one outlet at the Filinvest commercial strip in South Road Properties while another branch is planned next year in the I.T. Park.

Bigby’s Quality Foods Corp. which owns and operates Bigby’s Cafe and Restaurant recently transferred its Ayala Center Cebu branch to a bigger location at The Ayala Terraces.

Their two branches in SM and Ayala Cebu are company-owned.

“For our new branches, we welcome partnerships and franchisees if there are interested parties,” said Henrik Yu, marketing manager.

For every new branch, they will invest at least P5 million, he said.

The restaurant chain known for casual dining at reasonable prices started in Cagayan de Oro in 2008.

Over the years, Yu and his partners — wife Ann, Cathy Genabe and Sonjie Ang – have expanded to other locations.

“”We have two branches in Davao, one in General Santos , two in Cagayan de Oro and two in Cebu.

We plan to add more branches this year because we see the market has expanded,” said Yu.

This year, at least two more branches are planned for Davao and Cebu.

“We are looking at the SRP (South Road Properties) area where Filinvest will be developing a commercial strip (Il Corso). We are targeting to open that within the year,” he said.

Next year, they will also open a branch in Cebu I.T. Park.

Yu said that in areas where Bigby’s operates, especially in Cebu, the fast growing tourism market has fueled a lot of growth for lifestyle establishments like restaurants, spas and bars.
