MANILA, Philippines — Cooler weather and isolated rain showers are expected on Thursday, December 30, 2021, due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan” and the shear line, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda said the northeast monsoon continues to bring cold weather to Luzon while the shear line, or the convergence of winds from the “amihan” and the easterlies, is affecting the weather in the Visayas and Mindanao.

(The northeast monsoon still prevails in Luzon where it is expected to bring cold weather and possible rain showers especially in Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon.)

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, on the other hand, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon.

(Meanwhile, the shear line continues to prevail in the Visayas and the northeastern portion of Mindanao where it is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to the entire Visayas and Mindanao.)
