CEBU CITY, Philippines – Cebu Vice Governor Hilario Davide III on Monday, April 4, 2022, welcomed the decision of a political group to endorse Vice President Leni Robredo’s bid for the country’s most powerful position.

Davide, in a statement sent to reporters, said the decision of the Ikaw Muna (IM) Pilipinas to shift its support from Manila Mayor Isko Moreno to Robredo showed the growing support for the latter.

“Ang padayon nga paglapad ug pagkusog sa suporta nga nakuha ni VP Leni sa nagkalain-laing pundok – karon gikan nasad sa grupo ni presidential aspirant, Mayor Isko Moreno – nagpakita lamang sa paspas nga pagtuhop sa ligdong niyang tinguha ngadto sa ordinaryong mga tawo,” said Davide, who is a member of Liberal Party – Cebu (LP-Cebu).

He also thanked the group, which made the announcement in a press conference here on Monday, April 4, for joining them in backing Robredo’s presidency.

“Salamat kaayo sa Ikaw Muna Pilipinas sa  pagsalig ug pagsuporta ni VP Leni,” Davide said.

The vice governor, a reelectionist for the upcoming May 9, 2022 polls, has since backed the Presidential bid of Robredo.

“Matod pa ni VP Leni: Ang tinud-anay nga kusog wala nagsukad sa kwarta o makinarya, kundili sa panaghiusa sa katawhan,” he added.

IM Pilipinas recently announced that they will be supporting Robredo’s candidacy instead that of Moreno, adding that it was ‘the only way to win’ against the bid of former Senator Bongbong Marcos.
