Garcia gets backing from INC

CEBU CITY, Philippines – Reelectionist Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia has gained the endorsement of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC), her camp announced on social media on Tuesday, May 3.

In a post on her official Facebook page, Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia said they received information from the INC, known for its bloc-voting, that the religious group is backing Garcia’s bid for another term in the Capitol. 

“Gi-endorso na sa Iglesia Ni Cristo ang kandidatora ni Gobernador Gwen Garcia kinsa magpa-pili pagbalik karong Mayo 9. Ang kompirmasyon sa maong endorsement nadawat sa Lunes sa buntag, Mayo 2, 2022,” portion of the post stated. 

(Iglesia Ni Cristo has endorses the candidacy of Governor Gwen Garcia who seeking reelection on May 9.  We received confirmation of the said endorsement Monday morning, May 2, 2022.)

Garcia of 1Cebu will be facing former Tourism Sec. Joseph Felix Mari ‘Ace’ Durano in the upcoming May 9 polls. 

The INC has also backed the presidential bid of former Sen. Bongbong Marcos and his running mate, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
