Teacher dies in road accident

A 24-year-old teacher was killed after she was run over Sunday evening by an AUV in barangay Tuyan, Talisay City, southern Cebu.

Alona Mendoza was crossing the road when she was hit by a Toyota Tamaraw driven by Paulino Fajardo, 60.

Mendoza, who suffered head injuries, was declared dead at the South General Hospital.

Police said Fajardo had no driver’s license. He would be charged with reckless imprudence resulting to homicide.

In Naga City, a 24-year-old man died after he fell off a motorcycle he was riding in barangay Poblacion.

Police said the fatality, Jovani Lugiber, and the motorcycle driver, John Carlo, were allegedly intoxicated during the incident.

Police said the victim was seen raising his hands and was apparently engaging in horseplay.

Police said John Carlo sped off when the victim fell.
