South Bus eyes bed & bath facility
The management of Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) wants to build a bed and bath facility for travelers wanting to wash up or recharge before continuing with their journey.
CSBT consultant Restituto Dosdos Jr. presented the proposal during the Cebu Provincial Board (PB) budget hearing yesterday.
“The plan is still on the drawing board. The project won’t be easy because it is really big. But we already have interested parties who are willing to do a joint venture,” he told reporters yesterday.
The CSBT is asking for a budget allocation of P61.6 million for next year, up from the present P51 million.
PB Member Grecilda Sanchez-Zaballero, chairperson of the committee on budget, asked Dosdos for ideas on how to increase the terminal’s income to fund its budget.
Night market
Dosdos compared their facility to Sugbutel along S. Osmeña Boulevard in North Reclamation Area, where people from Bacolod or Dumaguete City can stay by the hour while waiting for their scheduled boat trips.
The facility will include lockers and showers, dormitory-type and family rooms.
Dosdos said the blueprint will probably be available by next month.
He said they are also considering the idea of turning a portion of the parking area into a night market.
As of October, Dosdos said the CSBT earned more than P53 million.
“We are positive of hitting the P61.6-million mark by the end of the year, or even surpass it,” Dosdos said.
