CEBU CITY, Philippines — The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas (CIDG-7) still has 22,000 more old warrants to serve to wanted and most wanted persons.

With this, chief of CIDG-7 chief Police Colonel Peter Tagtag Jr. said that they will intensify their operations against wanted and most wanted persons. Aside from 22,000 pending warrants, Tagtag said that they recently received 4,000 new warrants.

Tagtag said that they need to validate these warrants if the subjects are still alive or were already arrested in the other regions.

But for now, Tagtag said that they need to coordinate with the respective courts to get updates of the old warrants for them to also filter these and further lessen the total number of the pending warrants.

That is why the CIDG-7 has been intensifying their campaign against wanted persons. Tagtag said that last November 21 to 27, a total of 38 wanted and most wanted persons were arrested from their 21 operations.

Of the 38 arrested individuals, 31 were wanted persons and seven were most wanted.

Of these seven most wanted persons, Tagtag said that the usual cases are carnapping (2), statutory rape, illegal drugs, and four counts of violence against women and children (2).
