54 drug dens closed in Central Visayas since Jan. 2022
CEBU CITY, Philippines — A total of 54 drug dens in Central Visayas were shut down from January 1 to December 16, 2022.
Leia Alcantara, spokesperson of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas, said that the recent dismantling happened on Thursday afternoon, December 15, 2022, wherein four suspected drug personalities were arrested in Barangay Tejero in Cebu City.
The operation led to the arrest of an alleged woman drug den maintainer identified as Araceli Porta, 56, and the alleged drug pusher, Raul Gallado, 55, jobless.
According to Alcantara, Gallado is allegedly the one who supplies Porta her illegal items. Porta’s house was allegedly used as a drug den and she was also responsible in collecting P50 from each of their drug den visitors.
During this buy-bust operation, two alleged drug den visitors, identified as Ryan Abela, 46, a taxi driver, and Irene Duterte, 40, were arrested. Authorities seized five grams of suspected shabu worth P34, 000 from the area.
Alcantara said that the operation was made a week after their monitoring about the suspects’ illegal activities.
Accordingly, these two can dispose of 15 to 20 grams of suspected shabu to their drug den visitors. Appropriate illegal drug complaints have been readied against these four arrested suspects as of this posting.
PDEA-7 has been targeting drug dens since these are breeding grounds of criminals.
