CEBU’S RUNNING queen Mary Joy Tabal will leave for Hong Kong today along with her coach John Philip Dueñas for her stint in the 21-kilometer race of the Standard Chartered Marathon Hong Kong.

The race will be held this Sunday morning.

Tabal, the reigning Milo Marathon National Finals champion, said the race on Sunday is a fitting preparation for a bigger race she is set to join, which is the Los Angeles Marathon set on March 15.

“After this race in Hong Kong, we are planning to up the level of our training for a better performance in LA I need my body to be ready again for training next week,” Tabal said.

Tabal is hoping that the cold climate won’t affect her stint in Hong Kong. She has, however, already proved that she can win in cold weather after winning in last year’s Seoul Marathon in Seoul, South Korea.

Tabal is coming off an easy 21k victory in the Cebu City Marathon.
