CHR-7 to conduct tests on Coliflores

By: Michelle Joy L. Padayhag February 07,2015 - 12:32 AM

The Commission on Human Rights (CHR-7) offered to conduct  forensic tests on the remains of a woman who died while under the care of Mandaue City Hospital  to determine the cause of her sudden death.

This, however, needs the  consent  of Coliflores’ family, according to CHR-7 investigator Rodulfo Pacqueo.

The test will be conducted in  Manila.

Last week, the Department of Health (DOH-7) ruled that the staff of Mandaue City Hospital did not commit lapses or medical malpractice in relation to Coliflores’ death last month.

DOH  Regional Director Dr. Jaime Bernadas said that the two drugs administered had nothing to do with her sudden death.

But Bernadas said in order to determine what caused her death, laboratory examinations must be conducted and the interested party should be the one to initiate the request.

Pacqueo said Coliflores’ family only came to the CHR-7 office once and they were referred to the legal office to coordinate with DOH-7.

“We will wait for their coordination if they really want to do it (forensic test). As of the moment, we are also waiting for the DOH-7’s letter on their investigation’s results,” he said.

Suzette Jabonete, DOH-7 information officer, revealed that Cesar, the husband,  a former overseas worker, met with DOH-7 officials last Wednesday and was apprised of the results of the investigation.
