CEBU, Philippines—A 10-year-old kid died after he got electrocuted at his grandfather’s home in Sitio Manguilamon, Barangay Jaclupan, Talisay City, Cebu last Wednesday, July 5, 2023.

Llyn Lawas, the aunt of the victim identified as Zhen Lawas, told CDN Digital that she saw the body of the kid when she was checking why they suddenly lost power at their house at around 6 a.m that day.

Their house, where the kid lives too, was just near her father’s house. They shared electrical connection with her father.

Upon seeing the kid, she sought help from the kid’s father, Donald. They still tried to revive the victim and then brought him to the Talisay District Hospital but he didn’t make it.

The aunt shared that in the previous days prior to the electrocution, the kid was curious why a light bulb in the house of the kid’s grandfather always flickering.

The aunt believes the boy tried to fix the light bulb that morning but got electrocuted instead while trying.

The kid was at the grandfather’s house that day since it was where he usually  took a bath before going to school.

Zhen was on his way to school that day.
