THE hearing on the preliminary complaint filed against Cebu City officials in relation to the P20,000 calamity assistance will resume on Feb, 23,

But Cebu City Hall’s Legal Office questioned the authenticity of a Feb. 13 order issued by the Department of Interior and Local Governments (DILG) on the hearing.

City Legal Officer Jerone Castillo said the document which they received by fax last Monday had questionable handwritten corrections.

A different person whose full name wasn’t indicated in the order also signed in behalf of DILG hearing officer Christopher Tiu, Castillo said.

The initial hearing attended by Mayor Michael Rama, Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella and some councilors was held in October last year.

“We will ask for an original copy and we will start drafting our motion for reconsideration on the order,” he added.

The complaint filed by lawyer Reymelio Delute against Rama, Labella stemmed from the city ordinance granting  P20,000 calamity assistance to officials and employees in 2013.

Delute said there’s no evidence that city government employees and officials suffered losses due to the October 15 earthquake and supertyphoon Yolanda in 2013.
