LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — The Lapu-Lapu City government has sought the assistance of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to secure the city hall to implement order and to secure aspiring candidates who will be filing their certificates of candidacy (COCs) for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) on October 30, 2023.

Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan said that aside from the aspiring candidates, he also would want to secure those supporters who would accompany their candidates.

COC filing dates

On Monday, August 28, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has already started accepting COCs which will last until September 2.

The Comelec office of Lapu-Lapu City is located on the second floor of the city hall.

“Atoang gipa-assisan sa atoang mga kapulisan ug usab naa sab didto sa atong city hall ang atong mga marshals para hapsay ang pag-file nila. Dili magpunsisok,” Chan said.

(We had the situation assessed by our police and marshalls are also there at our city hall so that the filing will be orderly. They will not crowd the area.)
