Trailblazers secure finals berth in Dodong Junie Martinez Cesafi Pre-Season tilt
CEBU CITY, Philippines — The City of Bogo Science and Arts Academy Trailblazers are inches away from hoisting the “Sir Dodong Junie Martinez” CESAFI Pre-Season Tournament after winning all their elimination round matches on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the Don Celestino Sports and Cultural Center.
The Trailblazers opened their campaign with a thrilling victory against the University of the Visayas (UV) Baby Green Lancers 67-63. They went on capping their day with a lopsided win against the University of San Carlos (USC) Baby Warriors, 95-56.
During their game against the Baby Green Lancers, Arfernny Chancy Illustrisimo dropped 15 points to lead the Trailblazers in storming back from a 21-point deficit.
In their last game, Illustrisimo erupted with 21 points while teammate Franz Marvin Albao chipped in 13 points to obliterate the Baby Warriors.
Meanwhile, the Baby Webmasters started their campaign by demolishing the Baby Warriors, 101-64, as Dezetto Villanueva and Lordee Tinajora chipped in 17 and 16 points, respectively.
Johncel Borjal added 14 points for the Baby Webmasters.
However, the Baby Webmasters hit a brick wall after losing to UV, 62-63, in their second game on Saturday.
John Nathan Dela Torre scored 21 points in beating the Baby Webmasters, while teammate Jun Cambarijan added 14 points. Ismael Nier Culdora had 10 points for the Baby Green Lancers.
Games are still being played this Sunday. UV takes on USC, while CBSAA faces UC. The outcome of the ongoing games will determine who between UC and UV will advance to the finals later tonight. / dcb
