CEBU CITY, Philippines — Despite falling short in the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Under-19 Boys National Championships, many of the Central Visayas Football Association’s (CVFA) players have been recruited to various universities in Cebu and Manila.

A total of 15 players from CVFA’s U-19 squad that competed in the national championships have committed to various universities here and in Manila for its varsity football teams.

Three of CVFA’s players were recruited by UAAP and NCAA teams in Manila. Francis Vercide was recruited by the University of Santo Tomas (UST) while Theo Libarnes was joining the Far Eastern University (FEU). John Carlos Vitualla was recruited by the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde

Meanwhile, Gianrenzo Custado, Vince Ozanam Lamparas, Lindley Cueva, and Eugene Molleno will be playing for the University of San Carlos (USC).

Also, John Daniel Betinol and Francis Keith Mawe were recruited by the University of the Philippines (UP) Cebu.

On the other hand, the University of Southern Philippines-Foundation (USP-F) got Merick Baloria, John Bhyl Gimenez, Jon Goc-ong, Mark Wishley Mayor, and Cliff Ventura.

Lastly, Justine Soco went to the University of Cebu (UC).

It can be recalled that CVFA finished last among the four finalists in the PFF U19 National Championships held last month at the Dynamic Herb-Borromeo Sports Complex at the South Road Properties in Cebu City.

They wrapped up their campaign with a 1-2 loss to the Panay FA.

Still, they topped the Group B tournament held last June at the same venue, proving their potential at the national level. / dcb
