Barangay leaders back ordinance on council admin probe
The Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) and the Barangay Councilors League of the Philippines (BCLP)-Cebu City chapter supported a proposed Cebu City ordinance that would allow the City Council to conduct an administrative investigation on erring barangay officials.
BCLP representative Grace Baquero said while the ordinance provides for concurrent jurisdiction of the City Council and the Ombudsman on administrative cases, the Ombudsman can allow the council to proceed with the investigation.
Councilor Gerardo Carillo said the ordinance authorizes the council to create a three-person committee to conduct investigations on erring barangay officials.
