Mandaue returns favor, allows two-way traffic on M. Logarta

It was Mandaue City’s turn to return the favor to Cebu City as it allowed two-way traffic on M. Logarta Street from 5 to 7 p.m. when a truck ban is enforced.
Edwin Ermac of the the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM) said he got a call from his counterpart Joy Tumulak, chief of the Cebu City Traffic Operations Management, who asked to ease the 5 p.m. truck ban so trucks and other motorists can enter M. Logarta Street.
The setup began last night.
During this period, public and private vehicles bound for Mandaue City are allowed to pass M. Logarta St.
In a meeting held at Cebu City Hall last Tuesday evening, officials of both cities agreed to devote M. Logarta Street in front of the North Bus Terminal to one-way traffic for vehicles bound for Cebu City.
Route change
Trucks and container vans from Mandaue City will be allowed to park in Zuelig St. to avoid congesting traffic.
“Di sad mahimo ba nga ang Cebu City mihatag sa atong gipangayo niya, di lang ta magpakabana sa ilang problema (It isn’t right that Cebu City granted our request while we leave them to their problems),” Ermac said.
Ermac said Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes approved the Citom request and the two-way traffic was enforced at 5 to 7 p.m. yesterday.
Signages
Ermac also encouraged motorists passing along M. C. Briones St., near the vicinity of Pacific Mall to follow the slight route change to ease traffic in the area especially during peak hours.
”Katong mga mag-agi sa rightmost lane, di na unya siya makasud sa inner lane. Ang kining sa inner lane, di na sila makasud sa outermost lane (Those using the rightmost lane shouldn’t enter the inner lane and those at the inner lane should not use the outermost lane),” Ermac said.
In the new scheme, motorists bound for UN Avenue should turn right to R. Colina Street and then make an immediate left turn heading to S.B. Cabahug Street.
Road barriers and signages were installed by TEAM to warn motorists of the changes, Ermac said.
