FORMER Cebu City tennis age group star Janjie Soquino displayed the form that made him one of Cebu’s favorite young tennis player as he barged into the finals of the 2015 Pardo Men’s Open tennis with a huge semifinals victory over fast-rising tennis ace Jan Godfrey Seno yesterday at the Pardo Tennis Club in Pardo.
Soquino beat Seno, 8-1, in their semis match-up to secure a berth in the finals, which will be played today.
The no.2 seed Soquino first waylaid Francis Gerald Lambayan in the second round, 8-1, before booting out another young hotshot in Christopher Encarnacion in the quarterfinals, 8-4.
Soquino will be facing another former child star in tennis in today’s finals in RJ Abarquez, who downed Chang Mai Necesario, 8-1, in their semis face-off.
