MPBA Season 2: Truck N’ Trail clobbers Steadfast Builders to grab first win
CEBU CITY, Philippines — Defending champions Truck N’ Trail logged their first win in the Mandaue’s Pride Basketball Association (MPBA) Season 2: Cebuano Cup after bulldozing Steadfast Builders, 112-93, during their game on Sunday evening at the CPA gymnasium.
Albert Ardiente and John Velasco powered Truck N’ Trail, putting their team on the winning side by scoring 17 points each, after falling short in their opening game against Rongcales 92-96 last September 10, 2023.
Ardiente was a rebound shy from tallying a double-double after grabbing nine boards to go with seven assists and one steal.
Velasco logged six assists, three boards, and one steal for Truck N’ Trail.
Ranel Cortes contributed 15 points, while Mikoh Pahugot had 13 points. Paul Sungahid added 10 markers for the winning squad.
Kevyn Tenebroso and Jorge Eduave each scored 24 points in Steadfast Builders’ losing efforts.
Their teammates Zyrey Maglasang scored 20 and Oliver Dela Cruz added 10 points.
Meanwhile, Boss Macchiato beats Monterroyo, 84-65, behind Paul Munez’s dominant double-double game.
Munez erupted for 32 points and grabbed 25 rebounds to topscore Boss Macchiato.
He also tallied four assists and one steal in their lopsided win.
Charles Bernal, Michael Dysam, and Raymond Nayra scored 15, 14, and 10 points, respectively for Boss Macchiato.
Miguel Perez had 15 and Joshua Laurente added 14 in Monterroyo’s defeat.
In the other game, JDCB Ballers thrashed Quadernos, 113-76, with Ian Abboc pacing the team with 21 points.
Jerome Barrita aided Abboc with 13 points, while Mark Quijano and Jake Mates combined for 21 points.
Juneou Antigua scored 17 and Dave Delos Angeles with 14 points in Quadernos’ loss.
